County Fair Quilt Is Done!

The last several years community quilters have made blocks which I sewed into a sampler quilt to raise money for the open class division of the county fair. I hand quilt the quilt, which is auctioned at the sale at the end of the fair. Here is the 2014 edition. The 2015 edition is in the works.

South Africa, Part 3

One day Cory took Noah and me to the Rhino and Lion Park an hour or so away from Jo-burg.

The park rangers have places close to the road where they feed the animals so visitors can observe them.

We saw antelope, warthogs, and ostriches eating together.

Another feeding area ~ this one attracted zebras, water buffalo, and ostriches.

This beast has an interesting horn ~ it grew right along his head.

This bird's tail is very long.

Feeding the giraffe.

The young are brought into a protected area.

People are allowed to go inside the pens and pet the babies. We opted not to do this.

This is a stork.

Some kind of wildebeest.

Wild dogs.

We were very close to this lion.

The watering hole.

I really didn't want to get out of the car, even though I knew he had just eaten.

The lions are fed every Saturday at 1 p.m.

By the time we got there, the "men" had eaten, so it was the "ladies" turn.

Cory said they will clean the cow or whatever it is up. (I declared it was not a cow, for it's hoof was not divided.) They will work on it off and on until it is consumed. They start with their favorite parts.

I think this cheetah smelled the carcass.

Some more wildebeest.

The rhino.
